Dont know what i should get
      #22002 - 12/11/05 11:27 PM

First post!! :-)

Any way im looking for some kind of ppc, The axim x51v looks vary nice, I have about 320 right now so wouldent want to look for anything over about 350-400ish. I would like something that can take a micro drive, And maybe something that supports t-mobil as my mom has a 1 or 2 year contract with them and wouldent cost much to add another phone so like a ppc/phone? Would like something that has an email client, 802.1b and g would be nice.

Can any one siggest something that fits what i need? Thanks :-)

This thread discusses using WiFi and cellular simultaneously. Keep in mind that phones cost MUCH more if you don't buy them in combination with a new service contract.

I'm not aware of any PocketPC phone that supports 802.11g or MicroDrives. With diminishing support for Compact Flash slots, and Apple switching to flash memory for the iPod nano, MicroDrives aren't used for a whole lot these days.

Well i think she said she can add another phone for 10 or 20 bux, I think i would be able to just get the little card thing and put it in couldent i?

I rilly like the x51v just whish it was a phone also, Then it would be perfict :-)

But it tooks like most of the phone/pcc's are just phones that have pcc fetures.

I meant the cost of the phone, not the service.

For example, a phone that costs nothing with a 2-year contract can easily cost $100-200 without a contract.

The Dell x51v costs at least $300 with no phone at all. So if you combine that with a non-contract phone price... who knows what it might cost? They do have some components in common, which would reduce the total cost since you don't need two of them. But combining two things does not always result in something that costs less than the sum of the two individual prices. Example: Wristwatch = $15. Calculator=$1, maybe free if you're lucky. Calculator watch: $60+

What you need is a bluetooth phone. You could then pair it with your x51v and surf the web and retrieve emails that way. There aren't many PDAs that supports CF/Microdrives anymore, as Jacob says, but there are the iPaq 2xxx series, as well as the more expensive 47xx, and of course, the Dell Axim x51.

Most people prefer Agile Messenger for AIM, even though it is no longer free.

Eventhough the American side of AOL decided to sell AIM for PPC, the nice Brits are giving it away for free!
