hey y'all, i do a lot of travelling on business. i need a simple, functional device to replace my heavy laptop and so i arrived here in hopes of some feedback from the experts! i have never had a pda before and do not know exactly what to look for. what i do know is what i need: 1.decent memory 2.mobile phone technology for use in north america, asia (specifically china) and australia. 3.ability to use skype (can this be used to replace function number 2?) 4.camera not necessary. 5.programs for my work such as windows, word, excel... 6.voice recorder 7.vibra alert 8.better than average battery life 9.durability (i know i will bang it up pretty darn good)
i appreciate any help anyone offers! like i said, i am pretty much clueless about pda's cheers, TLTLT

Both Palm OS and Pocket PC PDA phones can handle working with MS Office documents and have vibrating alerts. However, Skype currently only works on Pocket PCs (they've been working on a Palm OS version but so far no joy). Pocket PC phones don't have the best battery life (generally charge them nightly unless you're a very light PDA and phone user). The Palm Treo 650 has a durable build and good battery life but no Skype.
You'll want a GSM phone if you plan to use the phone in China. That rules out Verizon and Sprint's offerings in the US.
The Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard) might be good choice. It's supposed to be released soon. The iPaq 6510 (or 6515 if you want the camera version) is currently available from Cingular and it's a good quad band world phone Pocket PC. The only drawback is the lower resolution 240 x 240 display.
