To MDA or not?
      #22989 - 03/09/06 10:21 PM

Right now i have an SPV C550. I see that T-Mobile has just released the MDA which i can get for $325 after rebate and tax. My question is will the MDA satisfy the following lists:

What i want my phone to do:
-Easily connect to Wifi (all over my college campus)
-Better emulations (actually playable)
-Full screen games (2003SE and QVGA dont mix well)
-Type up/modify simple word documents
-Be able to run with wifi on for about 6 hours straight

What i like that it already does:
-Easily receive and make phone calls
-Simple to do simple things (no stylus needed to set the alarm/make a call)
-Decent quality for movies and sound
-Fits well in my pocket

That's it. I believe that the MDA will do all these things but I just need some affirmation before buying it. I think i can sell my 550 for about $200 which brings the question of will i get $125 of use out of my new MDA?

The MDA has a 195MHz processor that's not so great for game emulators (see our review). It's responsive for most all things (including non-emulator games), but game emulators are very demanding.

I don't know of a Pocket PC that can run for 6 hours straight on WiFi. I'd suggest purchasing a spare battery, as one battery will get you about 3 hours.

The rest, it can do just fine!
