I found one of these for $29 in a mom & pop computer store I frequent. Seemed like a deal...
This CompactFlash device comes with a PC Card adapter, so I thought I could use it in my ipaq PDA (with an expansion sled) and/or an IBM ThinkPad notebook I am giving my daughter soon for her birthday.
The trouble is me, I guess. I'm an old die-hard Windows 98 SE user, and with the exception of an HP Pavilion notebook I bought last year, I use Win98SE on all the family's computers (I tried installing it on the Pavilion, but the ATI display adapter is so new that no Win98 drivers exist or will be written.)
<<< anyway, back to my topic >>>
It seems this SanDisk Connect Plus 128Mb + Wi-Fi is only supported on Windows ME or later. I tried installing the Windows ME driver on my Win98SE system but it just locks up when I insert the card, whether before power-up or after booting is complete.
I was under the impression that WinME was just Win98SE with some cosmetic changes and a few new "features" tacked on.
Has anyone had success running this hardware on a Windows 98 machine? Please, if you reply don't bother suggesting I upgrade my OS. It's not going to happen any time soon.
Hopefully some techie/hardware geek out there (I can use the G-word because I AM one!) will have a workaround for my issue.
