The only time I've seen that error is when the service really *is* down (happens from time to time, sometimes for hours). Have you gotten this error for several days or just one?

I have the xv6700. Have any of you experienced when you turn the phone on it stays in sleep mode for a minute or more. When I push the power button the screen is white. Sometime the screen is white when the phone rings. I just tried a hard reset and it still happens. I notice it happens most when the phone is on the charge.

Ah, I thought of one more thing. If you have a proxy server defined for your Internet connection on the 6700, it may not work with MSN. I actually hadn't had this problem with my verizon 6700 (they don't use a proxy) but on my Cingular 8125, Cingular's default proxy causes MSN sign-in to fail. So go to settings, connections, and look at your EVDO connection settings. Uncheck the "this connection uses a proxy" if checked and see if that does the trick.

Thanks for that regedit tip. Works like a charm.

I have a question about the Pocket MSN. I have an MSN account from my PC, but I can't sign in to any of the Pocket MSN applications (Messenager or Hotmail). I get an error saying that the service isn't available.

It can't be the connection itself, because I also have a data plan (45$/month) and I tried using the Wireless connection and the passthrough connection for my PC. I get the same error on all three methods.

I tried googling this issue but I can't find any thing. Any help would be great! Thanks

thanks for the tip

Question: I use a lot a callin card for intl calls. How can I save the calling card 800 number and then after a pause the access code? and then dial the intl number saved in other contact memory?

I've had my XV6700 for about 3 months and I have found the reception exceptionally poor. I have had numerous missed calls with callers telling me that their call went directly to voice mail. Most of the time the phone never rings. I thought it was a problem in my area...NE Pennsylvania. But a friend with the same phone in St. Petersburg, FL has the same problem. He's getting a new phone as a result. When I put my phone next to my wife's Motorolla E815 ($300 cheaper) she will have 4 bars reception and I will have 1-2 bars. I used the FieldTrial.exe which shows only -83 dbm with 3 bars. So, something is not quite right with the radio. I would be interested in knowing if others are finding the same thing with their Verizon XV6700 or the equivalent Audiovox model.

You can't get the device to dial two different contacts entries at once, but you can create a contact whose number is prefaced by the 800 number + access code (assuming the phone number field will accomodate that many digits). To create a pause put a couple of commas in, so it would be "800 number,,access code,,international number". If you need a longer pause, add more commas.

I've seen some posts where folks have gotten units with bad radios (unusually poor RF). My 6700 got nearly the same bars as the Moto E815 sitting right beside it on Verizon. And fieldtrial showed a good signal relative to other strong RF phones.

thanks for the ,,,, tip...works great
In my contacts (I do not sync these with my computer, just local on the pocket pc) some of them are shown as //name lastname//, and others as //lastname, name//. How can I show all the same?
Also the phone numbers in some cases are like //(XXX)xxx-xxxx// and in other just //xxxxxxxxxx//. How can these be shown the same way?

Other question: when conected to my bluetooth headset, sometimes voice notes are listened in the headset, and sometimes in the speaker, how do I set this?

Thanks.

when conected with both (phone and wifi) after the regedit tip, sometimes it shows the dial conection box (through the phone network). How can I force it to use the wireless LAN network (not the phone one)?

I bought a XV6700 and had troube with active sync from the start. I finally found a post that said Active Sync doesn't get along with vpn clients, even if they are not running. I uninstalled my work vpn and active sync works. I haven't tried to reinstall the vpn.

I hope this helps someone.

To start off let me say thank you for the information here. I used the registry fix to get WIFI and the phone to work at the same time and it works great! I have only had my XV6700 for two days and I like it better than my previous XV6600. I have one very strange problem that I have not been able to find an answer to; whenever I connect my 6700 to my laptop via USB the WIFI on the laptop disconnects and the only way I can get it back up and running is to restart the laptop. This does not happen with my XV6600. With the 6600 I noticed that WIFI would disconnect but immediately reconnect. I there any way to fix this? It is very inconvenient and annoying. I can sync via Bluetooth just fine. I have an HP DV1000 laptop with the built in Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG and built in Bluetooth.

Any suggestions or help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Everett

Hello,

I downloaded this editor program right to my XV6700. It resides in a Temp file. Now what do I do with it? How do I run a program on this device? I've had it for a week and what a nice toy :-)

I know how to edit registries, but just now sure how to do run it.

EDIT....I downloaded the file 'phmregedit.msi' directly to my device. I'm having trouble getting active sync to run, so I can copy the file to my PC then to a sync to my device.

MSI are Windows desktop installers only- they install software on desktops. If you can't get the MSI file to run on your desktop and then install the reg editor via ActiveSync, then you'll need to download the program in CAB file format which you can run on the 6700 to install it on the 6700.

Any idea here I can find one in the CAB format? I can't get Active sync to work at all.

I found a reg editor in .CAB format...however, there appears to be 3 different flavors.
PocketPC ARMS
PocketPC MIPS
PocketPC SH3

Which one is the right pick for this device?

ARM is the right version for your device and all PPCs made in the past few years. The other versions were for processors no longer used.

I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but I assumed others might have the same problem as me.

I was able to do the registry hack, but I do not think it has worked. How would I verify that the hack is functioning correctly? My test was to try and connect to the internet while a phone call was active. When I do, I get a message that states that I have to disconnect the current call.

TIA

I am looking into buying a XV6700, can I connect with a wi-fi connection and set it up to get my email and send email when I am at work. Then also at home. So I don`t have to use the data service.

Thanks
