Macworld SF: Apple Introduces iPhone, AppleTV
      #26439 - 01/09/07 01:07 PM

In his keynote address at Macworld San Francisco this morning, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Computer, provided details about two new products that have been eagerly anticipated for months (if not longer!).

The AppleTV, which was formerly previewed under the codename iTV, connects to a television via HDMI or component cables to provide a high-definition image of your movies, music, and photos. The movies can be stored on the AppleTV's internal 40 GB hard drive or streamed from your computer using the device's built-in support for 802.11b/g/n. The AppleTV will also sync with iTunes and feature a simple Apple Remote. Apple is taking preorders now and says that the device will begin shipping in February at a price of $299. Apple has also announced that it will e adding movies from Paramount to its iTunes catalog.

Second, Jobs has finally confirmed the existence of Apple's iPhone, which will be available in June for use with Cingular's network. The iPhone features a touch screen that allows you to access a variety of features without using buttons, including e-mail and a full version of Safari. The iPhone is a quad-band device that supports both GSM and EDGE, and it also features built-in Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities. The battery life will reportedly be 5 hours for using cell phone or video features, or 16 hours for audio playback. A 4 GB model will sell for $499, and an 8 GB model will cost $599, with both models requiring a two-year contract.

More information will soon be available at http://www.apple.com and http://store.apple.com.

Also at Macworld, Mark/Space announced that they expect to ship a new product, The Missing Sync for Blackberry, within the first quarter of 2007 at a price of $39.95.
