XV6700 - Volume
      #26792 - 02/11/07 02:22 PM

Hi. I purchased the XV6700 back in October '06 via Verizon Wireless. I love Verizon Wireless service/plans/receptions, and by all respects the XV6700 is actually an EXCELLENT PDA. This is my first PDA ever, and I just can't believe I lived without a PDA for so long. The ONLY problem/gripe I have with the phone is that the earpiece is too soft for me (even when put up to the highest volume), and I also found the speakerphone to be just as bad.

I've also just updated my XV6700's software couple of weeks ago, and still the volume is too soft. Is there any "add-on" or "plug-in" that could actually increase the volume on my device? I tried looking on http://www.handango.com for any such "plug-in" or "add-on" but to no avail.

You folks all sound like experts, so I'm hoping you can help!

Thank you!
Ryan

I don't believe there are any 3rd party software applications that will do this. But you can edit the registry, if you're comfortable doing so, to raise the default in-call volume.

How do I edit the registry? Obviously, I am a total putz! But I need to do something, becuase I've spent waaaay too much for this phone (and its the most powerful, and is what I need), just the volume sucks! Please advise.

Thanks,
Ryan

You'd need to download and install a registry editor program on the XV6700, then use it (carefully) to edit a few registry entries that should increase volume somewhat. Free registry editors include PHM Regedit and there's one that comes with Resco's excellent File Explorer (that's not freeware but they do have a 15 day demo).
