Probably the most talked about consumer electronics or mobile phone ever, the iPhone is finally here. And yes, it works as well as it does in the demo videos on Apple's website. The iPhone is wildly innovative thanks to it's unique touch screen that's gesture sensitive, multi-press aware and it even knows when its close to your face and turns the touch screen off. It's super-fast, has the best web browser we've seen on a PDA or smartphone, syncs to Macs and PCs, is a full iPod Video and it has a capable email client. It's available only through AT&T, and it's a GSM world phone with EDGE for data. Also included are a 2MP camera, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR.
Were you aware that there is a shareware program that purports to enable disk mode for the iPhone? I haven't tried it, but there is a demo available here.
I have also heard some concerns about the iPhone not having built-in instant messaging capability, although this isn't mentioned in the review. It's true that it doesn't have built-in IM, but besides the old standby of using the IM services' SMS gateways (which works on virtually any digital cell phone), you can also use Safari Mobile to visit www.ebuddy.com, which seems to have a specially designed iPhone version that works very well.
That's interesting that iSquint videos aren't working... I haven't tested it, but it sounds like something I would like to check up on.

Those apps weren't yet out when we posted our iPhone review. Now there are tons of online apps (but no additional standalone apps for the iPhone, since Apple is controlling those). Some hackers have gotten a standalone "Hello World" app working... so there's hope .
iSquint videos wouldn't play video at all. I bet they'll come out with an update. They do have a beta release of their pay-for product, Visual Hub, which adds iPhone compatibility.
