I am looking for a simple smartphone to allow me to access my company web applications while I am on the road. I don't need fancy software loaded. The only requirements are the web browser needs to be java-enabled and the device has bluetooth to connect to my other devices. Any suggestions?

Bluetooth is standard on most every phone these days, so that's easy. But Java VMs come on some but not all smartphones. These JM's area meant to run standalone Java apps on the phone and don't support Java in the browser. Netfront sold a Windows Mobile browser that can with a Java VM, but it wasn't 100% compatible with all Java sites. So I'm just not sure that there's a smartphone out there that will work with your company web-based Java apps.

Thank you, Lisa. What if we don't consider Java VM, any models in mind that you can suggest me? Fast internet connection and easy input. OS doesn't matter. Price under $200. The carriers? Here we have T-mobile, Sprint/Nextel, ATT and Verizon.

There are lots of smartphones out there, but not too terribly many under $200. The Samsung BlackJack and Nokia E62 on AT&T come to mind. And there's the Motorola Q9m on Verizon and the recently announced Palm Centro on Sprint. All are reviewed on our site.
