Apple has released significant updates to two of its most popular programs, iTunes and QuickTime.
Apple says that iTunes 7.5 features the ability to activate iPhone wherever service is offered and support for Phase, a new interactive music game designed exclusively for iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod (fifth generation). This release also includes bug fixes to improve stability and performance.
Editor's note: Some users of iToner are reporting that syncing their iPhone with iTunes 7.5 causes their custom ringtones to disappear temporarily, but it appears that syncing the phone with iToner again solves the problem.
According to Apple, QuickTime 7.3 addresses critical security issues and delivers:
Support for iTunes 7.5
Updated support for creating iPhone-compatible web content
Updated JavaScript support in the QuickTime Web Plug-in
Numerous bug fixes
Versions of QuickTime 7.3 for Panther, Tiger, and Leopard are available.
Both updates are available from Apple's site or via Software Update.

Hey Jacob, how are you liking Leopard? I finally got it installed on my Macbook this afternoon and so far it's been a mixed bag for me. The dock is taking some getting used to as I have to really look to see which programs are running. The stacks seem okay, but it's going to take some getting used to. I HATE the new folder designs. Looks like something we'd have seen back on OS 7. : ) the Time Machine is my favorite new feature as now I don't have to back up everything manually on my external drive. I'd rate the overall experience a success, although I was expecting a bit more given the long development cycle.
I saw that someone talked about clean install or upgrade. I wasn't given the choice on mine. Unless I was going at it too fast and missed it. So far I haven't had any kernel panics or other problems that severely plagued my Macbook back when I first bought it.
