I am planning to buy an unlocked GSM pda/smartphone and transfer my T-Mobile SIM card from my current phone to the new phone. I currently buy prepaid minutes, since I don't use many minutes per month. I want to continue doing this. For the PDA/Smartphone, I want to use WiFi, Bluetooth, and a built-in GPS. Will I get full functionality of these using prepaid minutes?

Yes, you'll get full functionality for WiFi, BT and GPS. The only thing you won't get (I think) is EDGE data via T-Mobile's GSM data connection. As far as I know, they don't offer any data plans with pre-paid.

Thnaks. Do you have any estimate of the impact of not having EDGE data?

It means you will only be able to access the web and e-mail when the smartphone is connected to a computer (via cable or Bluetooth) or in a WiFi hotspot.
