While the US mobile users are waiting for tomorrow's iPhone 3G launch in the US, folks in other country with time zone digits ahead of us will get their hands on the new iPhone 3G much earlier. Here are some of the coverages of the iPhone launch overseas:
Akihabara News, a gadget site from Japan has a live report from Tokyo 14 hours before the official Japan release.
"Yesterday they were 26 Japanese in the queue in front of Softbank store. Today in the early afternoon there were 103? The queue is beginning to get long! You'll notice some faces have changed. Some Japanese companies? heads even asked their employees to queue for them?"

MacWorld Australia reports that Optus, an Assie telco company, will be the first one in Australia to sell the iPhone 3G because they will open its doors at midnight on Thursday. Those who want to queue up in line early will have to pay $50 deposits and they have to be Optus' current customers. This is crazy, isn't it?

Are we completely left out cold in the US until 8am tomorrow morning? Not completely. Pogue, Mossberg, Baig, the same three media outlet writers that Apple sent the first iPhone to in advance got their iPhone 3G early again. Even though each of them has produced a review, there are still some unanswered questions about GPS, etc., and of course they themselves have not yet seen the App store applications. We will find out the answers to these questions tomorrow and take a look at the App store.
In the mean time head over to NYT, WSJ and USA Today to read their reviews.
