Nokia E71 video review part 1
      #31026 - 08/07/08 08:44 PM

We'll be posting our full review of the Nokia E71 in the next day or two. In the meanwhile whet your appetite with the first installment of our video review. It covers the E71's look and feel along with some other basics. Then we check out Nokia Maps with GPS, gaming and YouTube playback (yes, the E71 natively supports the full desktop version of YouTube).

For those who don't follow Nokia phones as closely as our dedicated staff, the E71 is the latest hot "business" E series smartphone from Nokia that was released a few weeks ago. I put business in quotes because the phone has a nice selection of multimedia features including a music player with stereo output via wired and Bluetooth headphones, a capable video player that handles MP4 and other formats, RealPlayer, Flash Lite 3 for Flash, FM radio, a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus lens and mobile plus full YouTube support. The phone is slim and absolutely stunning-- only the QWERTY keyboard gives it away as a business smartphone.

The E71 comes in a Euro and US version and we've got the US version which features a US warranty and US 3G HSDPA that works on AT&T's network for high speed data. The Nokia manages some of the fastest 3G download speeds we've recorded on DSL Reports mobile speed test.

It's a quad band unlocked GSM phone that will work with any GSM carrier's SIM and the list price is $499, though it's easy to find it for less. The phone has an excellent QWERTY keyboard, POP3, IMAP and MS Exchange support, the usual excellent S60 3rd Edition web browser and QuickOffice for working with MS Office documents (view/edit/create).

Feel free to post questions, and we'll have part 2 of the video review up tomorrow and a full written review by the weekend.
