What would you get if you crossed the HTC S710 or HTC S730 with an HTC Touch Diamond or better yet-- the HTC Touch Pro? Apparently it's the HTC S740 Windows Mobile Standard 6.1 smartphone. This non-touch screen WinMo phone's Today screen software bears a strong resemblance to the Touch Diamond's, and the unit sports the same black angular design. Looks lovely. Best of all, you get a traditional number pad to make calling easy-- but slide out that QWERTY keyboard and you're ready for messaging action. The only bummer is that this is the Euro version which means no US 3G and high import prices.
The smartphone will be available in Europe sometime in September 2008.
The HTC S740 features the fastest mobile broadband capabilities with a maximum download speed of 7.2 Mbps, up to 18 times faster than 3G. This true mobile broadband experience allows users to leverage the mobile Internet in a variety of ways including browsing to a favourite website, using Google Maps to find a restaurant for lunch and catching up to the minute news, blog posts and video podcasts with the integrated RSS reader.
The S740 follows the sleek design of HTC?s hit consumer handset, the HTC Touch Diamond. This slim smartphone features a matt black facetted back, a 2.4 inch QVGA display and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
