The follow up to Amazon's eBook device, the Kindle 2, has leaked according to a report from Boy Genius. It's not any prettier nor is it smaller, folks. But the keyboard has been redesigned (no divide down the middle), and the side controls that were all too easy to press accidentally have been re-done. Now there's a joystick instead of a scroll wheel and alas the SD card slot is gone, though internal memory is increased to 1.5 gigs. Also good news is the more standard mini-USB port for syncing and charging (which the Sony Reader uses).
The Kindle 2 retains the Sprint EVDO modem for shopping till you drop for books from Amazon's online eBookstore. No word on price or release date since Amazon still denies the Kindle 2 exists.
