Backup-Pal Keeps and Restores Important PIM Info Between Phones
      #31898 - 11/18/08 10:23 PM

For those who are using non-smartphones and don't have a back-end service to back up their phone data easily, Backup-Pal is a portable, battery-operated cell phone accessory that downloads and stores contact information including names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. If you need to move the info to a new phone, just hook up the Backup-Pal and press the "restore" button. It's not as sophisticated as solutions offered by smartphones, but those who don't need more data than the basics, this is a quick and easy way to keep and restore your info.

Here is more info on Backup-Pal:

? Back-up and restore contacts with one-touch of a button
? Universal connectivity via interchangeable adapters
? Although not a requirement, Backup-Pal users have the option to back up and edit contacts to a PC
? Transfer contacts from one cell phone to another, regardless of cell phone manufacturer or wireless carrier
? Information is shared between cell phone and Backup-Pal through an infrared, serial or USB connection.
? Backup-Pal uses a non-volatile flash type of memory, which stores data even in cases where the battery dies and is replaced
? Measures approximately 4 inches in diameter, extremely lightweight
? Backup-Pal retails for $39.99 for cell phones with serial ports, and $49.99 for cell phones with USB ports
