HTC S740 Windows Mobile Standard smartphone video review

We've just gotten our hands on a newcomer from HTC: their S740 Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard phone. That's the current lingo for what was formerly known as smartphone edition, which means it does not have a touch screen.

The HTC S740 continues in the footsteps of the HTC S710, which means it's a GSM unlocked QVGA smartphone with a standard number pad and a side-sliding keyboard. But the resemblance ends there, and it bears a greater resemblance to the HTC HTC Touch Diamond and Euro HTC Touch Pro or HTC Fuze in the US. It's got those devices styling and nearly identical specs other than the display.

It's sold for around $500 by importers unlocked for GSM networks and it's a quad band world phone with EDGE. There's 3G HSDPA, but only on the Euro/Asian 900/2100MHz bands. The price will probably drop $50 over time, but right now it's pretty new.
