Here is some info on upgrading your iPAQ and Dell to Pocket PC 2003.

Toshiba Pocket PC e750/e755 Series customers can take advantage of the benefits of Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs via a technology upgrade program. Users who purchased a Pocket PC e750/755 Series device from May 23, 2003 - Sept 23, 2003 are eligible to upgrade to the new operating system for free plus $15.99 for shipping and handling. Customers who purchased the Pocket PC e750/e755 Series with the Pocket PC 2002 operating system before May 23, 2003 will be able to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 for $50.00 (shipping and handling included)**. CAn Toshiba e740 with OS 2002 be upgraded to Windows Mobile 2003?

In the press release linked in my previous post, Toshiba currently only offers upgrade to PPC 2003 for certain e750/755 series. You cannot upgrade your e740 right now. It's very hard to say if Toshiba will offer upgrades to other models.

is it safe to upgrade to the 2003 version?
any ideas if all your info stays intact and everything works as it should? (buttons etc)

The upgrade will wipe out your Pocket PC. You should NOT restore from a backup after upgrading because you will overwrite system files with older versions.
Instead,use a different syn name for your upgraded Pocket PC. When you sync, all your PIM data (Outlook stuff) will get synced to the PDA. Then re-install your applications.
