Video review: Nokia E75 QWERTY smartphone with US 3G
      #33337 - 05/28/09 01:48 AM

The recently released Nokia E75 (E75-2, NAM edition and a variety of other monikers to indicate it's the US version) sits near the top of Nokia's E Series business-minded Symbian OS, S60 smartphones. It features a relatively uncommon design: it looks like a candybar phone complete with number pad, but it's a side-slider that hides a full QWERTY keyboard, a la the HTC S740.

For the uncoordinated like me who forever play where's Waldo with the embedded number pad on QWERTY-bar phones like the Nokia E71x and my otherwise beloved BlackBerry Bold when fooling with phone trees and other automated forms of torture, the E75's dual nature appeals.

The E75 is the first Nokia to come pre-loaded with Nokia's new email client, which brings S60's email experience into modern times. It comes with an Office suite and Nokia's usual excellent webkit-based full HTML web browser. But it's got a big dose of fun with support for N-Gage gaming (see our video for a demo), FM radio, FlashLite 3.0, a music player and a very good 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus lens (perhaps the best on an E series device).

The smartphone runs S60 3rd Edition feature pack 2 and it has a 369MHz CPU, a GPS, accelerometer, MS Exchange mail support, 3G HSDPA on AT&T's bands (850/1900MHz) and EDGE for T-Mobile US and overseas carriers. It's a quad band unlocked GSM phone and it sells for around $500 (no contract required).
