At the world wide developers conference today, Apple announced the next generation iPhone, the iPhone G S, available June 19th in the US. The new model looks like the exisiting iPhone 3G, but it packs some expected and unexpected changes inside. These include:
- Voice Control for voice dialing and application control! - HSDPA 7.2mbps (up from the 3.6mbps AT&T standard since they're deploying the faster standard now) - 3 megapixel autofocus camera, tap the screen to focus, has macro and low light modes - Shoot VGA, 30fps video and edit it directly on the iPhone 3G S. - Running the 3.0 OS (duh) - Cut, copy and paste thanks to OS 3.0 - Compass - landscape keyboard (a part of OS 3.0) - Tethering (but not with AT&T *sigh*) - Longer battery life: up to 5 hours 3G talk time, up to 9 hours WiFi (or so Apple claims)
Contract pricing: $199 for the 16 gig and $299 for the 32 gig
Effective immediately, the iPhone 3G will sell for $99 with contract (it isn't being discontinued).
