Maybe the civil servants just wanted to watch YouTube at work but their bosses said no. According to a report on UK public service news site Kable, the British Ministry of Defence has turned down the requests from the staff to upgrade their web browser from IE6 to IE7 or IE8. The labor leader told a news agency "So to force them to use the most decrepit browser in the world is a rare form of workplace cruelty that should be stopped." He also said "Why civil servants should not be given the choice to use Firefox or Chrome or Safari is beyond me. UK web workers deserve better."
