The first thing you notice as soon as the synchronization is done (thus game installation) is a nice icon but a cut title: BlastO...ction. This is a small detail I know but most of iPhone/iPOD owners are all about it anyway.
Loading time is OK and it is composed by three different screens before the actual game one.
Packed with 300+ puzzles it allows you to select an unlocked puzzle to play it again.
The game keeps track of each level progress apart and records the player?s name holding the best time (unfortunately the time itself is not displayed and the name input name is terrible). Personally, I would love to see a general statistics with levels played, average time, average moves and so on. It would give the player an overview of his performance. Right now it is hidden in each of the 300+ levels.
The goal is very simple. All you have to do is lead the UFOs to their own platform through a laser alike maze.
You achieve it by selecting an UFO and swiping it to the destination. If you chose a path without bounds the UFO is lost and the level is compromised (I mean you will not fully complete it).
The initial levels are simple but as the game goes on the levels become more complex and there are levels that you have to scroll the board so the game is not limited by the iPhone screen size.
The gameplay follows your pace and it is one of those that you can pick and play AND relax.
The controls work very well. They are simple and spot on.
The game is polished.
Graphics are very well designed and they look professional. Although there isn't a colorblind mode the game provides two color sets: Nice and Cool.
It is a simple puzzle concept but even though the few (necessary) animations are smooth and a delight to the eyes.
The interface itself is great. I just wish some of its aspects were more functional like the method to input your name. Fortunately once you type (or hunt) your name the game will remember it for the following levels.
The game has few sound effects due to the nature of the puzzle but each one is perfect, well suited for the game.
The relaxing side of this game urges for a background music.
Unfortunately the game does not support iPOD music either. It makes it fade away. This is not good at all for a such paced game.
Polished graphics and animations Subtle sounds It can properly resume You can browse through the 300+ levels
It does not have background music It does not support iPOD music There is no colorblind mode Input player?s name method is terrible Help is too long and there is no Menu button along its pages
This is a good puzzle with polished graphics and interface. The simple and timeless gameplay is suitable for a quick session as the game description suggests.
Ratings (scale of 1 to 5):
