We've got our hands on the new Samsung Instinct HD for Sprint and are putting it through its paces. The Instinct HD features a similar user interface to the original Instinct and Instinct S30 but it adds HD video recording to its repertoire. It can record video at 1280 x 720 pixels, 30fps. That's darned impressive for a phone. It can also output to an HD TV using an optional cable.
The Instinct HD is exclusive to Sprint and it has 3G EVDO Rev. A for fast data, WiFi (a rarity on a feature phone), 5MP autofocus camera, microSD card slot (4 gig card included), GPS that works with Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV and Radio, the Opera 9.7 web browser and a 3.2" capacitive touch screen with haptic feedback and an accelerometer. It's also got a proximity sensor so it turns off the display when the phone is against your face during a call (the touch screen is turned off to prevent cheek dialing).
The Instinct HD will be available at Best Buy on Sept. 27th, and at Sprint stores starting Oct. 11th. It sells for $250 after rebates, making it more expensive than the HTC Hero on Sprint- ouch.
Here's our video review of the Instinct HD. Our written review will follow in a few days. In the meantime, feel free to post questions.
