AllThingsD reports that Apple has approached several TV networks about the possibility of selling a subscription plan for $30 month that would allow users to download unlimited TV shows from the iTunes Store.
Reportedly, the service would not be tied specifically to the AppleTV but rather would be compatible with all iTunes devices (like iPods and iPhones). Networks have been reluctant to authorize a plan like this in the past, for fear that it might cause more people to realize how ridiculous their cable bills are , but now that television content is available through a wide variety of digital services (including some subscription-based ones like Netflix), the networks are apparently warming up to the idea.
Apple says that, if approved, they intend to launch the service early next year.
