Video review: HP Glisten Windows Mobile 6.5 QWERTY smartphone
      #35558 - 01/04/10 10:46 PM

Poor HP; there are plenty of folks who want a QWERTY messaging smartphone that's not glitzy (though it might glisten) and not loaded with a mondo touch screen. That's the HP Glisten on ATT, HP's latest iPAQ smartphone. It competes with the BlackBerry and other Windows Mobile QWERTY business messaging phones and not with the sorta uber-cool HTC WinMo touch screen phones like the Touch Pro2 and HTC Pure.

The HP has a teeny tiny 2.5" AMOLED touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard. It's a great one-handed device and you can do most things using the d-pad and hardware controls if poking at that tiny but pretty display isn't your cup of tea. It has 3G HSPDA on AT&T's US bands as well as the 2100MHz band for use abroad and it's quad band GSM.

Other features include the usual 528MHz Qualcomm processor, a heathy 256 megs of RAM and 512 megs of flash storage, an SDHC microSD card slot and a beefy 1590 mAh battery. The 3 megapixel camera won't win any awards but for a business phone it's decent enough, and there's WiFi, Bluetooth and a GPS with AT&T Navigator to keep you on track. The phone sells for $179 with a contract and $379 without a contract.

Here's our 7 minute video review of the HP Glisten:
