Sony Daily Edition Reader or B&N Nook?
      #35624 - 01/07/10 05:36 PM

Familiar with both. Looking for someone who's had more "hands on" than me. Money is not that critical. I do like the fact that the google book offerings could be acquired "over the air" with Nook, whereas Sony is limited to store offerings. Mainly wanting the product that will last the longest and read the best. BTW, I do own a Kindle 2 I plan on keeping for most newer book purchases. I want this for pdf's and google book open source books. Thanks.

As I mentioned in your other, similar post, I'd vote for the Sony. The thing is certainly sturdy, as are most Sony Readers and the user experience is better.

How does the daily reader handle PDFs? I am looking for a reading that I can also use to download business documents while on the road. Thanks!

In terms of rendering and the zoom feature it handles PDF files well. But given that most PDFs are designed for 8.5 x 11 inch print, the Daily Edition's screen isn't large enough to read text easily unless you set it to landscape mode or zoom. In landscape mode, you'll have to do 3- 4 virtual page turns for each printed page.
