Remember the Nook? That eBook reader from Barnes and Noble that got mostly panned in a limited run of round one reviews? We'll, they've updated the firmware a few times and the most recent one sounds like a charm and the Nook might be ready to stand against the mighty Kindle and Sony Reader Daily Edition.
Barnes and Noble says that the Nook will be available in most stores this Wednesday, February 10th. We assume it will be the usual white model and not the pink one they're showing in true Valentine's Day spirit.
The Nook has a 6" e-ink display that's quite similar to the Kindle 2 display, and it has wireless access for book shopping. There's ePUB support and legacy eReader format support. You can read standard ePUB DRM ebooks purchased from the Sony eBookstore and other stores but not eBooks from Amazon. Sorry, Amazon is sticking to their private format.
