iPhone Game Review: Princess Fury
Reviewed by Spaztrigger

When you hear the word princess what pops into your mind? A strikingly beautiful princess riding on a pony? Or a princess wielding a gigantic sword fighting bad guys? Well in Princess Fury option #2 is what you get.

Gameplay

Already one of the most popular games in Asia, Princess Fury pits our heroine against an evil overlord who brings violence and destruction to the land. It has an interesting gameplay that combines arcade fighting action with an element of real time strategy gameplay. The result is a non-stop action and resource management combo that keeps you busy. The Princess doesn?t go into the battles alone: she has her own servants and soldiers to fight the dark and evil forces.

Like in many RPG, Princess Fury arms you with a diverse army: your servants come in forms of archers, warrior, and mage; and you gain more of them in numbers as you level up. There?s some AI play in the game as well: you can go into a battle with a group of your servants or unleash them and they will fight the enemies on their own. As you level up you also gain special attacks as well. You start out with the lightning special, and you will gain dash attack, Dancing sword combo, and whirlwind attack as you battle deep into the levels.

Though there is only one game mode, Princess Fury offers 5 different types of levels. Those 5 types are:

Eliminate all enemies - you just hack away at enemies till there?s none left.

Capture the crystals - you have to capture a certain amount of crystals from your enemies with the aid of your soldiers.

Defend the crystals - you must defend your blue crystal from evil forces.

Escort mission - you must escort somebody (like a mage for example) to the goal without letting the villains kill the mage.

Defeat a boss - you have to defeat the boss.

After doing these missions you are awarded EXP. When you collect enough EXP you level up to increase your strength and health. Of course the AI levels up ahead of you: the first boss you fight while you are level 3, he is level 5.

Graphics

The graphics in Princess Fury are very slick and cool. They remind me of Knight's Onrush, and if you are fan of Knight?s Onrush you will enjoy the graphics in this game immensely. Though not a 3D game, Princess Fury is one of the best looking 2D games I?ve ever played! Character design is top notch, background is very pleasing and animation smooth.

Controls are simple to use: you have a joystick, 3 special attack button, and one attack button. To move you use the joystick. To attack you tap the sword button. Everything works very smoothly.

Sound

While the graphics managed to impressive us, the music impressed us even more. The sound tracks are meant for fighting, and who can resist Death metal while slashing monsters and burn enemies to the ground? Both the title theme music and BGM is epic, and boss fights get their own tune! Yeah! While epic, music managed never getting repetitive. You can however play your own music should you choose as the game offers that option.

Conclusion

Princess Fury is a great game for everyone with a little killer instinct and a desire to win. For $2 it's a great deal since it has tons of replay value: think about those enemies, servants, bosses, and levels. The Castlevania-like graphics are terrific and music sounds epic. We highly recommend this game!

Ratings (scale of 1 to 5):

Graphics: - 5 - Very smooth. Looked perfect.
Sound: - 5 - One of the best soundtracks I have ever heard.
Controls: - 5 - Controls are simple and smooth. No glitches or bugs.
Gameplay: - 5 - Tons of gameplay. Mountains of enemies to keep you entertained.

Playing Hints and Tips:

- When fighting a boss disperse your group so they can weaken him and then strike.

- Always disperse your servants unless you are low on life.

- Try to re-do old missions so you can get more EXP.

So is there any sort of score tracking so I can try to beat old record from previous missions when I replay them?

No, there isn't.................
There isn't any way to beat your old score unless they keep track of the punt of EXP gained from that mission.
