Clearwire Announces Launch Dates for 4G WiMAX in NYC, SF and LA

Clearwire today announced the timing for the commercial launch of the Clearwire 4G network in New York City, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. So if you have been itching to get the HTC EVO 4G in these areas but holding out for 4G, you can finally get your hands on one of these babies in a couple of weeks.

Here are the WiMAX launch schedules for these cities:

New York City - November 1

Los Angeles - December 1

San Francisco - late December

Clearwire continues to offer dual-mode 4G/3G USB modems in New York City and Los Angeles in advance of the launch of commercial service.

Further details on these and other upcoming markets, including network size, coverage maps and service options will be available at launch.

Today, the Clearwire 4G network is commercially available in 56 markets and covers 66 million people. (Note: These totals do not include New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco.)
