HP TouchSmart TM2 / TM2t -Jan 2010 Review
      #39038 - 11/05/10 04:01 AM

Hi - you reviewed the subject tablet back in January. I'm interested in purchasing one and in looking at the latest offering from the HP website, they are offering the following Processor CPU upgrade:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-470UM (1.33GHz, 3MB L3Cache) +512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5450 [HDMI, VGA]

Can you tell me if that is the one you were referring to when you commented:

"Update, February 2010: HP now offers a lower-spec CPU, the 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU4100. We don't recommend this CPU as it's significantly slower than the Core 2 Duo 1.3GHz SU7300"

I'm considering getting the 8GB of DDR3 to compensate...

I am a general user who may consider using this to do some "light" video editing - typically 1/yr I create a video montage of photos/music that may be 45min-60min long - would that processor/memory combo be sufficient to handle something like that?

The model that you're interested in purchasing is actually faster than the models we reviewed. The SU4100 is now gone as an option, and that one was slower than the two versions we reviewed.

The Intel Core i3 and i5 models are the second gen of the TM2 and the i5 the faster option.

BTW, I still own and use my TM2 and love it .
