iPhone Game Review: Doodle Devil
Reviewed by SpaZtrigger

First there was Doodle God where we got to create stuff and become a "god", and now you can be the devil...the DOODLE Devil, where you will try to ruin the world with a human and an apple. It?s only fair.

Doodle Devil is a game like no other for you can?t do anything but mix and match and try to make 107 elements in order to do what all devils do, destroy the world. You also want to discover more groups or category as you mix things up. Every element has a group it belongs to, such as the demon group, the god group, and the "sins" group. After you combine the human and apple you are immediately presented with a bunch of other elements (fire, chaos, and other evil things). Armed with these basic elements you make things that doodle god would never create: a politician and war. That sounds like fun, doesn?t it?

Making elements and destroying the world can be great fun, but after you destroy the world, you are left with?nothing. So no more to do, or at least not until the developers add new elements through an update, which is pretty much all that they're doing, add more elements to both Doodle God and Doodle Devil. So this is yet? Not quite. The fun of the game is in the replay. You can get rid of every element you found and start over, taking different paths.

In fact this is how Doodle God was. At first it had nothing the intro wasn't voiced there were only 110 elements and now it has over 210 elements and every quote and intro is voiced. It?s probably just a matter of time until Doodle Devil gets a major game changing update. Still finding 107 elements can be challenging and that's why you have a hint and a super hint. So when you?re stumped and thinking "Darn, what could I combine to make the element that I need?" Check the hint and super hint light bulbs, people! Just a warning, but after you use a hint or super hint they both will enter a cool down period (it doesn't matter which one you used). The more elements you have the longer the cooling period. But this is like cheating, a hint will just tell you what you could make. Say you clicked the hint light bulb then it will show 2 mysterious elements that you have that could make a new element like an angel. A super hint will open up 2 groups which you can combine to make a new element. Overall with all these hints and element you'll probably breeze through this game and right in the middle of it the update might even be released. Let?s hope!

Graphics & Sound

Doodle Devil WAS created by the developers of Doodle God (thank god this isn't some cheesy rip-off like many see today *cough*Doodle smash and Doodle drop*COUGH*cough*) and the Doodle God fans might recognize the similar graphics on Doodle Devil considering all the graphics are actually pretty much the same except it's the devil this time around instead of God. The elements and their icons look pretty awesome and mire so if you have an iPod touch 4 Gen or an iPhone 4 with a Retina display.

The controls work well, just like in Doodle God. They are simple yet very effective. All you have to do in Doodle Devil is tapping your fingers and sliding.

If you played Doodle God then the music might sound pretty familiar. This is a game featuring the devil and so people should expect a dark and evil tone. Just like in Doodle God, music in Doodle Devil is as epic and well arranged. Basically the developers took the bright and upbeat Doodle God music and converted it into a dark and sinister one. Making all these destructive elements can take a long time and eventually you might even start to get bored of the music, but thankfully you always have the option to get to ay your own music revitalizing the fun of Doodle Devil!

Doodle Devil, one might call it the evil version of Doodle God, is a fun game just like its counterpart. With 107 elements of disaster to create the fun never ends. Though gameplay is similar to Doodle God, being evil seems even more satisfying. The graphics and audio are just as high quality as the first game, and we are certain that a major update will bring even more elements and more fun to the game.

Ratings (scale of 1 to 5):

Graphics: - 5 - Very awesome looking graphics and looks better on the iPod touch 4 Gen and iPhone 4.
Sound: - 5 - Has a very dark feel which is completely natural for the game.
Controls: - 5 - Very simple but effective controls.
Gameplay: - 4.5 - There's a lot of elements, but compared to Doodle God it needs some updates which are coming.

Playing Hints and Tips:

-This game is mostly guessing of the elements so it can't hurt if I spoil 1 or 2
-1) Death + Water = Styx
-2) Human + Knowledge = Books

This game is really addictive, it took me 3 hours to finish it. It has the same idea like doodle god, but i really liked the "dark" atmosphere. Dark is always cooler, what can i say , by the way there's a flash version, it has less features and options but its nice when you're bored.
