right now i'm leaning towards the blackberry torch. however i do like the htc aria. and i would hands down get the blackberry bold 9700 but i dont like that it doesn't have "real" web browsing. i currently have an iphone 3gs and i'm just tired of it and i'm looking for something new. what about the htc surround with the windows 7?
what would y'all recommend?

That's a pretty varied collection of phones for consideration. It might help to narrow it down-- do you can lots about price, hardware keyboard, OS or any other things?
If you're into BlackBerry phones, the Torch is definitely sweet.
The HTC Surround is a nice phone with good build quality but it's a bit on the larger and heavier side due to the slider for the speaker bar. The Samsung Focus is our top pick for Windows 7 phones on AT&T right now, and it's got a great display and is thinner and lighter. Check our our review of the Focus to learn more. The new OS is pretty sweet, btw.
The Aria is a nice affordable mid-range phone with a "normal" design compared to the Moto Android mid-priced Android phones on AT&T. The Samsung Captivate is a nice high end Android (I know, I just added to your list!).

The Nexus S lacks 3G on AT&T's bands, making it less than an ideal choice.

I find that the Samsung Focus is highly rated not only by MT Review but by other review sites and users. I am strongly considering getting this ATT phone and will be moving away from my Blackberry curve with the main objective being enhanced web surfing capability. My primary phone uses are voice, email, text, web. I do not do music, games or video.
I have one question: My understanding is that the copy/paste feature is NOT supported, but that Microsoft now offers a software update for Windows 7 Mobile which installs this. I believe it is called "NoDo" - or something similar. Is this update easily downloaded from the MS website via computer connection or can it be sent to the phone via the web?
Thanks in advance. I will also appreciate any additional observations on the Focus by current owners of the product.

The update is pretty easy to do, and you'll use the free Microsoft Zune desktop software to download and install the NoDo update to the phone.

IMHO, If you're not sure - go with the new iPhone! I've gone from an iPhone to Android and I'm back again. The 4S looks pretty good and will be a big step up from the 3gs.
