T-Mobile Plans to Provide 4G to 200 Million People by Year End
      #39296 - 12/01/10 04:24 PM

T-Mobile is announcing their plans to expansion their 4G and beyond. Continuing the aggressive expansion of its 4G network, T-Mobile is on pace to expand its 4G footprint to reach 200 million people by the end of this year ? with plans to move to faster speeds (42Mbps) in 2011. Here is more info on the speed, devices, and more for T-Mobile's 4G network: (info provided by T-Mobile)

? T-Mobile?s network offers theoretical peak throughput speeds of 21Mbps ? three times the theoretical speeds of today?s 3G (HSPA 7.2).
? Our 4G speeds match and often beat WiMAX.
? T-Mobile?s HSPA+ network is roughly equivalent to ? and in some cases far better than ? what some current LTE networks and trials offer.

? T-Mobile?s HSPA+ network is the largest 4G network in the U.S. today ? reaching more than 80 major metropolitan areas across the U.S. (with Fiber Ethernet backhaul in place).
? By the end of 2010, T-Mobile is on pace to expand its 4G footprint to reach 200 million people in 100 major metropolitan areas.

Choice of Devices & Experience
? Customers can choose from a variety of devices that run on our 4G network including the T-Mobile G2 with Google, T-Mobile myTouch 4G and the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 4G, as well as broadband products such as the webConnect Rocket 2.0 Laptop Stick.
? Whether surfing the Web, downloading high-definition video or sharing media on the go ? customers will experience speeds they only thought possible on their own computer.

Customer Value:
? In contrast to some of our competitors, we?re not charging customers more to benefit from the 4G performance on our network.
? T-Mobile?s HSPA+ network is also backward compatible, so many of the 3G-enabled devices T-Mobile customers are using today can automatically be faster at no additional cost, including (but not limited to) the Samsung Vibrant, T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide, HTC HD7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

HSPA+ Evolution:
? Next year, T-Mobile is planning to upgrade the network to support even faster 4G speeds (theoretical peak speeds of 42 Mbps) without the need for additional nationwide spectrum acquisitions. This upgrade is expected to double the average and peak data rates available to customers with suitably equipped devices.
