No, the feature phone isn't dead yet, especially the QWERTY messaging kind. And the LG Octane follows in the footsteps of the long-lived and successful LG enV line of horizontal QWERTY flips phones that look like micro laptops when open.

This Verizon phone features a larger outer dial pad and an LCD plus an internal QVGA display and full QWERTY keyboard. The specs are in line with the enV Touch (minus touch screen) and the phone has 3G, a 3.2 megapixel camera, V Cast Video, a GPS with VZ Navigator and Bluetooth with A2DP stereo. If you're not into the smartphone thing and want a solid and attractive messaging phone with that familiar Verizon feature phone user interface, the Octane is worth a look.
