IDC has released their latest market analysis of the worldwide (not just US) smartphone market, and there are few surprises. Nokia has been the world leader for some time, and despite some difficulties getting innovative new smartphones to the market in the past year, they remain number 1.
Apple took the number 2 position for Q4 2010 sales and showed growth in overseas markets, particularly the Asia/Pacific regions and Japan.
RIM likewise is growing outside the US market, and the BlackBerry is thus still strong with 36.4% growth in Q4 2010.
Samsung and HTC are going gangbusters with a mind-boggling 438% growth in Q4 for Samsung and 258% growth for HTC in the same quarter.
