New iPad eBook: Little Boys Series Children Books Now Available on iPad
      #39921 - 02/08/11 04:06 PM

French publisher Fleurus and Anuman Interactive have adapted the Little Boys early learning collection for iPhone and iPad. Here is more info on this ebook series for the iPad:

Created for pre-schoolers, Little Boys is a collection of early learning books featuring the stories and illustrations of a charming cast of characters. Five titles from the series are now available for iPhone and iPad ( "Marcel's Rubbish Truck", "Lulu's Crane", "Leon's Fire Engine", "Peter's Tractor" and "Axel's Bulldozer"); all featuring different sections which kids can read and interact with.

The app?s Read Mode, allows children to see animated illustrations as they read along with the e‐book. As the story progresses, the images corresponding to the story zoom, shrink and transition effects. Additionally, various objects are highlighted throughout the story to encourage kids to press and listen to the sounds they make. An index is available for users to browse between chapters quickly.

The Listen Mode is designed for the youngest kids and uses additional functions to let them enjoy the story again and again. With the accompanying text and illustrations, a narrator reads the story with the aid of ambient sound effects.

Aside from the stories, the app features additional modes which enhances the reading experience of the audience. The Voice Mode gives parents the option to record their voices and become a narrator themselves.

With the Photo function, kids can take photos of themselves and create a photo montage. For example, in the application ? Lulu?s Crane ? the child?s photo can be imported from an iPhone or iPad, resized, rotated so that they can also try their hand at driving Lulu?s crane. Photos can also be saved in the album or shared with friends and family.

Finally, there?s the Quiz, which comes in a multiple‐choice format and where the story?s main character asks young readers to select the correct object. A Help Menu with commentary, is available to help children navigate through the application without getting lost.

You can get the Little Boys titles for $2.99 on the iPhone and $4.99 on the iPad from the iTunes App Store:
