HP announces TouchPad webOS tablet
      #39929 - 02/09/11 07:58 PM

It's finally official: HP has announced the TouchPad tablet running webOS. Gone is the Palm name apparently, and the 3 webOS products announced today are branded as HP.

The TouchPad is a direct iPad competitor with a 9.7" XGA 1024 x 768 capacitive multi-touch display, WiFi and a front 1.3MP video conferencing camera. There will be WiFi only and 3G models, and the tablet is due this summer.

Battery life on this HP webOS tablet should be excellent since it has a 6300 mAh Lithium Ion battery (in comparison the Samsung Galaxy Tab has a 4,000 mAh battery and the Dell Streak 7 has a 2780 mAh battery).

The TouchPad has Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, aGPS on the 3G model and stereo speakers with Beats audio.

It runs on a dual core Snapdragon APQ8060 1.2GHz CPU and has the usual ambient light sensor, accelerometer and gyproscope.

It measures 9.45 x 7.48 x 0.54 inches and weighs 1.6 pounds.
