Palm Pre 2 we hardly knew you. Now you're kicked aside for the new HP Pre 3 running webOS. The overall design esthetic is similar but the Pre 3 sports a higher resolution WVGA display and a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM 8x55 CPU. The display isn't huge at 3.58" but we do like the 480 x 800 resolution that competes well with today's high end smartphones.
The Pre 3 has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard that's quite similar to the original Pre and Pre 2, and it sports a 5 megapixel camera that does 720p video recording. There's a VGA front video calling camera as well.
Other standard goodies include WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, GPS and a mobile hotspot feature for wireless tethering.
The phone has a mono speaker, dual mic with noise cancellation and 512 megs of RAM with your choice of 8 or 16 gigs of storage.
It has a 1230 mAh Lithium Ion battery.
Availability? This summer. Carrier? Not yet announced.
