Am planning on purchasing NookColor this weekend, but just read on the B&N site that the battery cannot be replaced by me. (I had been told by the salesperson at the B&N store that "if I had the correct screwdriver, ..no problem".) This erroneous info makes me a little hesitant to go buy. Does anyone know what happens after warranty if I require a new battery? Liz

It's true that it's not terribly difficult to do it yourself. Once your warranty has expired, you can send it back to Barnes & Noble for a battery replacement for a fee. The battery should be good for 2 or more years, depending on how much you use the Nook Color. By then, there will probably be a Nook 2 or Nook 3 that may tempt you away from the original Nook Color.
