iPad Game Review: Time Geeks: Find All HD
Reviewed by Steven Scarpitti

Time Geeks: Find All HD is a great hidden objects game for the iPad that mixes pixel art and fun hidden objects gameplay. The game offers lots of content in several different modes of play that make the game very enjoyable from start to finish.

Gameplay

In Time Geeks: Find All HD you first play in History Mode which is the main mode with a story and 11 missions to play through. Each mission has many different objects for you to find and you are timed for finding each individual object plus you can replayed it and try to score a better time. The nice thing about this game is the location of the objects you are trying to find will change. So just because you knew where the item was last time you played doesn't mean you know where it is this time, this really helps keep the game fresh for multiple play-throughs.

Then there is Find All! mode which is a nice relaxing mode that is not timed or scored and is just for fun. In Find All! mode you are given an object to find, after you find a couple objects you will move onto a different map. Find Worms! mode is just that, a mode where the object is to find worms within a limited time. Find Worms! mode starts you with 39 seconds to locate a worm on the map but don't worry it's not a tiny worm, if you find the worm within the time limit then more time is added and a new worm is placed someplace else on the map. With Find Zoorgs! mode you have to find a given number of aliens on a map within 39 seconds, if you find all the aliens within the time limit your time is reset to 39 seconds and you move onto a new map to find more aliens.

You also have Find Us! mode which is another relaxing mode that is not timed and you are simply looking for the three Time Geeks characters, after you find all three Time Geeks you move onto a new map and start again. There is an Editor mode which allows you to create your own maps, you can save up to six different maps. You can unlock more objects to use on your custom maps by playing through the History mode. Last you have Minigames mode which allows you to replay any of the eight minigames you have unlocked by playing through the History mode. Overall the game handles scrolling and zooming pretty well, sometimes the game will register an incorrect object when you are trying to scroll or zoom but you're going to have that when using a touch interface. Also the game does not detract anything for incorrect objects, so the player isn't penalized.

Graphics

This game has very pretty pixel art graphics and while this won't appeal to everyone, those who do like the graphics will love this game and its humor. There are lots of fun things going on in the maps and here is a lot of humor if you look for it.

Sound

The game music is quirky and fun just like the game, you can turn the music off in the options if you want. There aren't a whole lot of sound effects as you might imagine, there's really only one for finding the correct object and one for finding an incorrect object. You can also play your own custom soundtracks, you just have to start your music before you start the game.

Conclusion

I enjoyed playing this game and will continue to come back to it for my hidden object fix. This game should really appeal to anyone who likes Pixel Art and should also appeal to most people who enjoy finding objects on zany/humorous maps. Really a lot of content for the price and very good replay value with the objects changing locations.

Ratings (scale of 1 to 5):

Graphics: -4- The pixel art graphics are very pretty and the developer really did a good job making the maps fun.
Sound: -5- The music really fits the whole theme of the game being quirky and fun plus you can play your own music if you want to.
Controls: -4- The controls handle very well but getting that incorrect object sound when you are trying to scroll or zoom can be a little agitating .
Gameplay: -5- There are a lot of different game modes and content plus you can make your own levels.

Playing Hints and Tips:

If you are having trouble with or getting aggravated by the incorrect object problem when you are trying to scroll or zoom, simply remember to try and keep from tapping on the screen. Place one finger and let it rest on the screen if you have a problem with tapping on the screen when trying to scroll or zoom.
