Video: Deep Dive with the New BlackBerry Bold 9900
      #40567 - 05/02/11 10:15 AM

We are here at the BlackBerry World getting some quality hands on time with the Blackberry Bold 9900. The new Bold has a large, sculpted keyboard that's perhaps the best mobile phone keyboard you will ever use. The phone still has the trackpad and a new touch screen which is very responsive. The display looks noticeably brighter than the last gen Bold and Curve models.

The new Bold 9900 has a brushed stainless structure and an advanced composite back cover that's surrounded by soft touch material. Underneath the cover is a removable 1230mAh battery. The new Bold 9900 has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and 802.11a for enterprise IT, and a new voice search feature that works well for universal searches on the phone.

The biggest excitement is the new BlackBerry OS 7 with its enhanced web browser that has fast JavaScript performance and HTML 5 support. The browser is indeed faster and has pinch zoom support.

Other new and enhanced features include:

-NFC. The Bold 9900 is the first Near Field Communications enabled BlacBerry smartphone that can read tags for smartphone posters and accessory pairing and is ready for any future apps that make use of NFC.

-Augmented Reality. It works with over 150M POIs in 175+ countries and 32 languages. It integrates the locations of your BBM contacts and chats, get social connected to other BBM and AR users, by partnering with Mobile Easy.

-BlackBerry ID: Allows single sign-on, enbables personalization that follows you when you switch devices, seamless device switch experience.

-Music storefront partnered with Amazon: DRM-free music transferred to any devices, access to preview and buy amazons MP3 songs, multplay ways to browse music, free song of the day, sharing links to music via text, email, facebook, social feeds and twitter.

-Docs To Go: Docs To Go will come with the Bold 9900 with universal search engine integrated, and newly added native PDF viewer.

-Social feeds: custom views and notifications bookmarking, favorites social feeds.

According to RIM, most of the current applications for BlackBerry will just work on the BlackBerry 7 OS, but because of the tight integration with the hardware accelerator and Liquid Graphics, BlackBerry 7 will not be backward compatible.

Here is a demo video the new BlackBerry Bold 9900:
