HP Veer 4G Video Review
      #40647 - 05/13/11 11:12 PM

All joking about Zoolander phones aside, the HP Veer has got to be one of the smallest smartphones on the planet (the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini is pretty close). Despite its almost absurdly small size, the Veer is a very powerful phone with an 800MHz Snapdragon CPU, the thoroughly lovable and modern multi-tasking webOS and a full compliment of wireless radios. The Veer is available in your choice of black or white.

The Veer is limited only by its tiny 2.6" capacitive touch screen and relatively low resolution 320 x 400 pixel display. Palm Pixi owners might be accustomed to that resolution (albeit on a larger screen), but most smarphones these days pack better than VGA resolution. You'll need good eyes to read webpage text, MS Office documents and PDFs-- yes, the Veer can do all that.

AT&T will start selling the Veer for $99 with contract, and we wouldn't be surprised if some retailers offer it for free with contract. The 3.6 ounce Veer 4G doesn't quite have 4G, but it does have HSDPA 14.4Mbps which means reasonably fast downloads, and it has WiFi, Bluetooth and a GPS that works with Google Maps and AT&T Navigator. It can also act as a WiFi Mobile Hotspot, if you want to pay an additional $20/month for tethering.

If you're looking to upgrade from a feature phone and want a touch screen smartphone that's not big, the Veer might be for you. For the rest of us, the HP Pre 3 will be coming by the summer.

Here's our HP Veer 4G video review:
