The UK-based case maker Proporta has been making cases for mobile devices for many years, and they are now offering several cases for the iPad 2. The Slim Leather Style case is the thinnest among the collection and doubles as a stand. The Proporta Slim Leather for iPad 2 is a portfolio style case with a tablet pocket to store your iPad 2 and a cover with inserts that cover the entire body of your tablet. The Slim Leather Style Case for iPad 2 comes in black and brown colors.
The Proporta Slim Leather Style Case for iPad 2 is made of PU (polyurethane) that?s easy to clean with a damp cloth, fingerprint resistant and a lot smoother than leather surface. In fact the exterior of the Proporta case is so smooth that it?s a little slippery. The pocket where the iPad 2 lives isn?t exactly molded to the form, but the tablet fits in it comfortably. The pocket has a soft surface that won?t scratch your iPad 2 when you slide it into the pocket or take it out.
While the back of the case has just a layer of PU leather, the cover that protects your display and functions as a stand does have a layer of rigid inserts. The cover actually has two separate inserts that allow you to fold the cover back and use it as a stand. The Proporta Slim Leather Style Case comes with a magnet closure in the cover that can automatically turn on your iPad 2 when you open it. The case feels very slim and lightweight in hand. It has quality stitching as well.
The Proporta Slim Leather Style Case for iPad 2 has cutouts for most ports and buttons but not all aligned perfectly. The case has a perfect cutout for the 30-pin connector on the bottom but it doesn?t have a cutout for the speaker grill. Sound gets muffed while the iPad 2 is in the case. The side cutout leaves the volume buttons and the screen lock button exposed for easy access. The camera cutout missed the mark on the back, and half of the rear camera is covered by the case. There are two cutouts on the top for the power button and the audio out jack. The cutout for the power button works nicely and the cutout for the audio jack is bigger than it?s needed to be but works just fine for you to use headphones with the iPad 2. The mic hole on top doesn?t get a cutout, so you might have to shout a little while doing video calls or recording.
The pocket on the Proporta Slim Leather Style Case for iPad 2 covers the bezel around the display about half way. The Home button is exposed thanks to a semicircle cutout but there is no cutout for the front facing camera. The edge of the pocket sort of covers the camera if you hold the case by the edges, but you can peel the edge back a little you won?t see a black line coming from the case in your video calls.
The star of the Proporta Slim Leather Style Case for iPad 2 is the well-designed stand. There is a holder on the back of the case that you can slide the cover into and stand your iPad 2 in two position, both in landscape orientation. You can stand the tablet in portrait mode with the stand as well but it won?t be in a comfortable angle for moving watching or typing and gaming on the screen. The stand holder feels sturdy and the tablet feels steady in the stand.
If you are looking for a very slim case that covers your iPad 2 entirely and doubles as a stand for media viewing, give the Proporta Slim Leather Style Case a look. It?s very slim and light, and the stand works very well. The case has cutouts for buttons and ports, and the build and stitching look to be in good quality. We can?t however recommend this case without pointing out that the rear camera is half covered by the case, there is no speaker grill cutout, as a result the sound dampens, and the front camera could use a small semicircle cutout as well.
