What's Hot: Easy to use, textured surface and grips, come in many colors.

What's Not: Edges of the case feel loose with wear and tear.

Trident Case draws inspiration from mythical creatures for their many series of cases for mobile phones, tablets, ebook readers and more. Some of these are rugged like the Kraken Series cases, others have two tone design like the Cyclops cases. We've reviewed their Aegis Series case for the NookColor. The Pegasus Series cases are the most lightweight cases in Trident's line up, and currently the Pegasus Series is the only case for the BlackBerry PlayBook from Trident. The Trident Pegasus Case for the PlayBook is a rubberized silicone case that protects the back and sides of the BlackBerry tablet. The case has a rugged look but it's quite thin and light. The Trident Pegasus case for the PlayBook comes in 9 colors including black, white, red, pink, blue, green, yellow, orange and purple.

For a simple silicon wrapper case, the Trident Pegasus Case for the PlayBook is very well made. The exterior rubberized silicone adds some extra padding to protect the tablet from being poked or bumps while in a bag or backpack, and the surface is textured to prevent sliding on a smooth surface. The Trident Pegasus Case has soft silicone lining on the interior where it?s touching the tablet, and the handgrips on the sides are also made with silicone but they come in bumper grips for better handling the tablet.

The case wraps around and covers the edges of the tablet on the front, so when you put the PlayBook face down on a table, the case touches the surface instead of the display. The Trident Pegasus Case feels rugged in hand yet adds only 3.2 oz. to the 7? PlayBook. While the case doesn?t protect the screen directly, it does provide good shock and impact absorption for the rest of the tablet. We like the color options for the Trident Pegasus Case, especially the bright colors that can change the look of the understated BlackBery tablet. While the rubberized silicone on the back is more rigid, the sides with soft silicone feels a bit loose with use.

The Trident Pegasus Series case for the BlackBerry PlayBook is a very functional case and offers access to all ports and buttons. The Trident Pegasus Case has a large cutout on the bottom to give access to the charging/syncing port, microUSB and micro HDMI ports. It also has cutouts for the 3.5mm audio out jack and dual microphones on top. You should have no trouble using any sync/charge cable or headset while the PlayBook tablet is in the case. The top multimedia buttons and power button hide under raised covered buttons, and they actually make using these buttons easier, since the power button on our unit is a bit flat.

The case has a perfect cutout for the rear camera, and since it doesn?t cover too much on the front, the front camera is exposed for easy access. The handgrips on either side of the tablet have slight curves to expose the dual speakers on the front. The Trident Pegasus case has some thickness, so not all charging stations or audio speakers/alarm clocks work with the case.

The Trident Pegasus Series case for the BlackBerry PlayBook is a simple yet very functional. The rubberized silicone back gives the case a form body to stay on the tablet, while the soft silicone edges make it easier to put the case on or take it off. It provides good protection for the tablet except the screen, and has easy access to all ports, buttons, speakers and cameras. The case offers nice handgrips and comes in many colors.
