Sprint's latest high end Android phone leaves us impressed. It's a large and solid smartphone with a 4.3" qHD 540 x 960 touch screen and WiMAX 4G. It's also a world roaming GSM phone with a SIM card (no, it won't work with US carriers). That's a well-connected phone. The Moto runs on the ever-popular 1GHz dual Core Tegra 2 CPU with hardware graphics acceleration and it's quite fast in daily use. It has Android OS 2.3.4 with Motorola's software enhancements (formerly touted as Motoblur, but Motorola hasn't marketed their custom software quite so much lately). The Photon 4G has an 8 megapixel camera that can shoot 720p video and 16 gigs of internal storage as well as a microSD card slot for further expansion.
The 1700 mAh Lithium Ion battery holds up longer than most WiMAX phones, and we actually made it through the day repeatedly with 4G turned on. Reception is above average and voice quality is excellent.
Here's our Motorola Photon 4G video review. Our full written review will follow in the coming days.
