A Dodge Charger police cruiser outfitted with the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is being showcased at the 2011 Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) conference in Windsor, Ontario this week. The concept car with the dashboard-mounted BlackBerry PlayBook is in the midst of a national tour and is also expected to make the trip to the 2011 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in Chicago in October. Here is more info along with a video:
The concept car showcases the use of BlackBerry PlayBook as a siren and lights control panel as well as an information and communications resource for law enforcement personnel. Dashboard-mounting of BlackBerry PlayBook for the concept car was made possible by D&R Electronics. A demonstration of Mobile Police Assist by Mobile Innovations is also being showcased on the dashboard-mounted BlackBerry PlayBook. Mobile Police Assist provides secure access to police records and briefings; geo-tagging and time-stamping for photos, videos and notes; and GPS tracking.
Mobile Police Assist is available today only on BlackBerry smartphones and is used by thousands of law enforcement officers and support staff across Canada and the UK. Mobile Police Assist for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is slated for general availability in early 2012.
