It's a sad day, Steve Jobs has resigned as CEO of Apple. In his resignation letter posted on Apple's website, Mr. Jobs wrote:
"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple?s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee."
So he's not gone from Apple, but he is stepping down as CEO. Tim Cook, Apple's Chief Operating Officer of 13 years will take his place.
Steve Jobs is a visionary who changed the world of consumer technology, quite an achievement for a 56 year old who's faced grave health issues. We wish him and Mr. Cook the best of luck as they continue to guide Apple forward.
Sad news. While it seemed surprising at first, it really has been rumored for quite some time, and the fact is that no one can be CEO forever. I wish him the best, and Apple will continue selling millions of Macs and iOS devices, even if I have to buy them all myself! (*pending available money)
