iPhone 4 Case Review: Skyline Rigid Flex Case for iPhone 4 by id America

What's Hot: Thin and light, generous cutouts, good colors.

What's Not: Too many holes on the back.

In id America's unique line up of iPhone 4 cases, the Skyline Rigid Flex Case is the most flexible one. The Skyline is made with thermoplastic material that's reasonably sturdy yet flexible. The case covers the back and sides of the iPhone 4 with small holes on the back to create a faint illusion of a city's skyline. The Skyline case for iPhone 4 comes in three colors: Matte White, Matte Black and Matte Pink.

Design

The Skyline case is made with TPU, or thermoplastic material that?s pretty thin. The case is form fitting for the iPhone 4, and the thermoplastic keeps the case in shape much better than generic silicone. The Skyline is reasonably flexible which makes it easier to put it on and take it off of the iPhone 4. The case covers the back of the iPhone 4, but it?s mostly dotted with small holes to create an abstract look of a skyline of a city, very abstract. And through these small holes, you can see the Apple logo hiding underneath. The sides and corners of the case are more protective as they have more solid surface minus the button cutouts.

The Skyline Rigid Flex case for iPhone 4 is very thin and light. The matte surface helps with grip of the phone, and material while thin can absorb some shock. If you have small and pointy objects in your purse or backpack, this might not be the best case as they might poke the phone through the small holes on the back of the case. The Skyline case comes in three pleasing colors.

Features

The Skyline Rigid Flex Case for iPhone 4 is quite functional with cutouts for all buttons and ports for easy access, and it fits in many audio speakers and docking stations. The iPhone 4 case has generous cutouts on the bottom to accommodate the 30-pin connector and speakerphone/mic grills as well as on the side for the volume and silence buttons. The iPhone 4 worked with most audio speakers and charging stations we tested it with while in the case mainly thanks to the large bottom cutout. The side cutout allows the case to work with either the AT&T version or the Verizon version of the iPhone 4. The case has spacious cutouts for the rear camera and flash as well as the audio jack. The power button is protected under the cover, and it?s quite easy to use.

Conclusion

If you want a slim case that won?t lose its shape quickly, the Skyline Rigid Flex Case for iPhone 4 is worth a look. The thermoplastic material is easy to work with, along with the generous cutouts, the case can work with other accessories easily. The back holes give us some concerns about sharp objects poking and reaching the iPhone 4?s back, but as with all id America cases, the Skyline case comes with thick films for both the front and back of the phone. So small nicks won?t scratch the iPhone 4?s surface. The case is thin and light, and we also like the color selection and the matte surface that?s not slippery.
