Amazon Updates Kindle App for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch
      #41860 - 12/21/11 10:46 AM

Amazon today released an update that added some new features to Kindle for iPad and Kindle for iPhone/iPod touch. Some of the new features of the Kindle app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch include:

- New Design for Magazines: Kindle for iPad customers now have access to the huge selection of over 400 magazines and newspapers that are available on Kindle Fire. Magazines such as Martha Stewart Living, Cosmopolitan, Men's Health, Popular Science and many more are displayed in rich full-color pages. Customers can visit the Newsstand to buy a single issue or subscribe to popular magazines and leading newspapers and have them wirelessly delivered to the Kindle for iPad app.

- Print Replica Textbooks: Students can buy thousands of print replica textbooks to read on their Kindle app for iPad. They can also choose to rent many textbooks and save up to 80% off the list price of the print textbook. Print replica textbooks maintain the rich formatting and layout of the print editions, with features including notes and highlights, zoom and pan, linked table of contents, and Whispersync of notes, highlights and last page read.

- Seamless Integration of Personal Documents: Customers can now email their documents to their Send-to-Kindle e-mail address and read them on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch in addition to their Kindles. The documents will be automatically archived in the Amazon Cloud and available for re-download on Kindle keyboard, Kindle, Kindle Touch, iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

- PDF Reader: A built-in PDF reader that allows customers to open and read their PDFs within the Kindle app. Customers can open PDFs from Mail or Safari, by transferring them from iTunes, or by sending them to your Kindle email address. The PDF reader is enhanced with support for PDF table of contents and thumbnail navigation for quickly jumping through the document.

Customers can visit www.amazon.com/kindlestore in their Safari web browser to discover new books. From the store you can choose to start reading the book immediately in your web browser with Kindle Cloud Reader, or you can choose to open the book with your Kindle for iPad app.

The Kindle Store features the largest selection of books people want to read. Books are automatically delivered to the app and will be available in archived items. With new integration of personal documents, millions of older, out-of-copyright, pre-1923 books are now also available to read on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
