iPad Case Review: Bracketron SuiteGear Kit for iPad 2

What's Hot: Apple SmartCover compatible, protective rear cover conveniently bundled with cleaning solution/cloth.

What's Not: No front protection if you are not using a SmartCover.

The Bracketron SuiteGear Kit for iPad 2 is a starter kit targeted directly at the novice iPad owner. It contains a soft and clear polyurethane rear cover, cleaning solution, microfiber cloth, and a capacitive stylus.

Size and Fit

The cover fits the iPad 2 very well. It adds almost no bulk to your device, and gives full access to all ports and controls. It is also fully compatible with Apple's SmartCover.

Features and Quality

The flexible ABS case provides basic scratch/bump/scuff protection for the back of your iPad. It's not as soft and grippy like silicone, but it won't stretch like silicone, either, and it doesn't collect lint. However, like all thin iPad case backs, it provides little protection from drops, and no protection from moisture.

The cleaning solution and microfiber cloth work very well. There is enough solution to conceivably outlast your iPad if used conservatively, and the microfiber cloth is won't scratch your glass, and is completely lint-free.

While most people won't have a use for a stylus, there are some that prefer them to fingertip control. If you're in the latter camp, you'll find the stylus to be fully capacitive friendly (it will work with modern touchscreens, which rely on the electrical field of non-insulated objects to work) and has a soft, spongy tip that slides nicely over the screen.

Style

The case itself is completely clear, which reveals the beauty and style of your iPad 2 rather than introducing its own. If you are looking for something minimalistic, this will be right up your alley. If you're looking for something with a bit of personality, look elsewhere.

Summary

If you're looking for a starter kit for your new iPad, this is a pretty good choice. While the cover isn't anything particularly special, it's SmartCover compatible, fits nicely, and will keep you from scratching or scuffing your new toy. The included cleaning solution/cloth work very well, as does the stylus (which you may or may not need). At $19.95, you would be hard pressed to find these items individually for less in a retail store.
